For YouTube Shorts
Upload your Short and Vidcoo grades it the way the feed will: every frame of the hook, every word of the script. You get a 0–100 score, a verdict, and the exact fixes before you post it for real.

The swipe
On most feeds you get scrolled past. On Shorts you get swiped away — one flick of the thumb, usually inside the first two seconds. Whatever your Short is about, the only part the feed guarantees anyone sees is the first second of it.
Shorts is also a sound-on platform. Viewers arrive from the Shorts shelf with audio already playing, so your spoken hook carries more weight here than anywhere else. A muted feed forgives a weak opening line because on-screen text covers for it. Shorts doesn't. If your first words are “hey guys, so today I wanted to” — that is your hook, and it loses.
Vidcoo grades your spoken hook word by word from a word-timestamped transcript, alongside every frame of the visual open. You see exactly where the open goes soft — down to the word.
The loop
When a Short ends, it plays again. That seam, your last frame cutting back into your first, is a Shorts-only craft problem, and most creators never think about it. If your Short trails off into an outro, a logo, or a “like and subscribe,” the loop clunks and the viewer swipes. If the last beat lands flush against the first, the Short gets watched twice before the viewer notices. That second watch is free watch time.
Two practical rules: cut the outro entirely and end on your strongest frame, and write an open that still works on second viewing. Vidcoo doesn't watch your Short loop. It grades the two things that decide whether anyone stays long enough to loop it: the open and the pacing.
Repurposed clips
The most common dead Short is a long-form clip wearing a 9:16 crop. A moment that works at minute 42 of a podcast works because of the 41 minutes before it. Cut it out and post it alone, and it spends eight seconds clearing its throat on names, context, and half a setup before it says anything a stranger would stay for. In the Shorts feed, those eight seconds cost you the video.
That's a speed-to-value failure, and it's measurable: how long your Short takes to pay off the promise its hook makes. Repurposed clips fail this check more than anything else Vidcoo scores. If you clip long-form content, the fix is usually a new first sentence recorded for the clip, not a better moment. There's more on this pattern in why videos go viral.
What we check
Vidcoo reads the hook frame by frame and the script word by word, timestamps included, then scores your Short on all 8:
Your on-screen text in the first frames. Does it open a loop worth staying for?
Motion, faces, pattern breaks — the frames that exist before the swipe decision.
Your first spoken words, graded word by word. On a sound-on feed, this is the hook.
Text, visuals and voice pulling in one direction, not three.
Is the open loop strong enough to hold a viewer who owes you nothing?
Seconds until the promise pays off. Repurposed clips fail here most.
Why a stranger in the Shorts feed should believe you.
Framing, caption placement, readability on a phone at arm's length.
The output is a 0–100 score, a verdict, evidence frames pulled from your own video, and a fix list in priority order with exact rewrites — not “improve your hook” but the sentence to say instead. Full breakdown in how the viral video score works.
Before you upload
The whole idea of Vidcoo fits in one sentence: test your video before you go live.
The final cut, exactly as you'd post it: 60 seconds or less, MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 250MB.
One analysis at a time. Every frame of the hook and every word of the script gets read.
Work the fix list top to bottom, re-export, and upload the version that scores.
Your first analysis is free, no credit card needed. FAQ
Export the final cut exactly as you'd post it: vertical 9:16, 60 seconds or less, MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 250MB. The 60-second ceiling is Vidcoo's cap, and it matches the classic Shorts length — that includes a clip you've exported from a long-form editor, as long as you trim it to time. Upload it to Vidcoo, read the report, and fix the open before you publish. Your first analysis is free, no credit card required.
Shorts stall when early viewers swipe away. Whatever the feed is doing under the hood, the pattern creators see over and over is the same: lose people in the opening seconds and the Short stops traveling. Those first seconds decide most of your reach, and the cause is almost always the open — a hook that doesn't earn the first two seconds, or value that arrives too late. Fix the open and the same footage can perform completely differently.
Yes — and you probably should. Clips lifted from podcasts and vlogs are the most common Shorts that fail, because they spend their opening seconds on context a feed viewer never asked for. Vidcoo's speed-to-value check tells you exactly how many seconds your clip wastes before it pays off.
It's your Short scored across all 8 metrics, from text hook to composition. We calibrated the rubric blind against 40 real short-form videos, 20 that went viral and 20 that never cracked 2,000 views, before trusting it with yours. The score tells you whether to post; the fix list tells you what to change if the answer is not yet.
